Present continuous tense কাকে বলে?
বর্তমানে কোনো কাজ চলছে (Non-Stop বা অবিরাম গতিতে) এমন বোঝালে Verb -এর Present Continuous Tense হয়।
বাংলা বাক্যে চেনার উপায়ঃ করছি, করিতেছি, করিতেছ, করছ, করছিস, করছে, করছেন। এই শব্দগুলো দেখে Present Continuous Tense Bangla চিহ্নিত করা হয়।
অর্থাৎ, কোনো বাংলা বাক্যে ক্রিয়ার শেষে “ছি, তেছি, তেছ, ছ, ছিস, ছে, ছেন”-এমন উচ্চারণ পেলে তা present continuous tense হয়।

⇒ Subject + am/is/are + verb + ing + extension.
Note: now, right now, at this moment, at present, gradually, step by step, one after another, all+day/morning/night, these days, etc. adverb / adverbial phrase থাকলে উক্ত বাক্যটি present continuous tense হয়।
♦ Present Continuous Tense examples:
নিচের Present continuous tense এর উদাহরণ গুলো লক্ষ্য করুন।
- She is making tea. (সে চা তৈরী করছে।)
- They are playing football in the playground now. (তারা এখন মাঠে ফুটবল খেলছে।)
- Our teacher is teaching us well. (আমাদের শিক্ষক আমাদের ভালোভাবে পড়াচ্ছেন।)
- Now the students are singing the national anthem. (এখন ছাত্র-ছাত্রীরা জাতীয় সঙ্গীত গাইছে।)
লক্ষণীয়, উপরের বাক্যগুলো দ্বারা চলমান (non-stop) কাজ করা বোঝাচ্ছে। এইজন্য বাক্যগুলোকে present continuous tense এর structure অনুযায়ী translate করা হয়েছে।
♦ Present Continuous Tense Bangla আরো কিছু structure:
Affirmative (হ্যাঁ বোধক):
⇒ Subject + am/is/are + verb + ing + —–.
For example:
- I am working in my studio. (আমি আমার কর্মশালাতে / স্টুডিওতে কাজ করছি)
- He is solving the sum (সে অঙ্কটির সমাধান করছে)
- You are doing wrong. (তুমি ভুল কাজ করছ)
Negative (না বোধক):
⇒ Subject + am/is/are + not + verb + ing
For example:
- I am not working in my studio (আমি আমার কর্মশালায় কাজ করছি না।)
- He is not solving the sum. (সে অঙ্কটির সমাধান করছে না।)
- You are not doing wrong. (তুমি ভুল কাজ করছে না।)
Interrogative (প্রশ্নবোধক):
⇒ Am/is/are + subject + verb + ing + —–?
For example:
- Am I working in my studio? (আমি কি আমার কর্মশালায় কাজ করছি?)
- Is he solving the sum? (সে কি অঙ্কটির সমাধান করছে?)
- Are you doing wrong? (তুমি কি ভুল কাজ করছ?)
অজানা কথা:
- “I”-এর পর am বসে, “We, You, এবং They” এর পর are বসে।
- Third person singular (He, She, It, কোনো কিছুর নাম) এর পর is বসে।
Bangla Present Continuous Tense সাধারণ আলোচনা, যখন হয় অসাধারণ
Present continuous Tense Bangla নিয়ে গোলক ধাঁধাঁ -01:
- It is amazing. (এটা খুবই আশ্চর্যজনক/বিস্ময়কর।)
- His attitude is charming. (তার আচরণ মনোহর।)
- It is interesting. (এটা আকর্ষণীয়।)
লক্ষণীয়, উপরের বাক্যগুলো দেখতে present continuous tense মনে হলেও, মূলত তারা present indefinite tense।
কেননা, “amazing, charming, interesting” শব্দগুলো জন্মথেকেই “ing” যুক্ত adjective
নিচের shortcut-টি মনে রেখো।
Be verb (am/is/are) + ing যুক্ত adjective = present indefinite
Bangla Present continuous Tense নিয়ে গোলক ধাঁধাঁ -02:
- I am going to start a new business. (আমি একটি নতুন ব্যবসা শুরু করতে যাচ্ছি।)
- He is going to open a school. (সে একটি বিদ্যালয় খুলতে যাচ্ছে।)
- They are going to make a charitable fund. (তারা একটি দাতব্য তহবিল গঠন করতে যাচ্ছে)
লক্ষণীয়, উপরের বাক্যগুলো দেখতে present continuous tense মনে হলেও, মূলত তারা present indefinite।
কেননা, “am going to, is going to, are going to” verb-গুলো মূলত modal verb। আর modal verb দিয়ে গঠিত sentence টি simple present tense হয়, যদিনা modal verb-এর past form হয়।
নিচের shortcut-টি মনে রেখো।
- am/is/are + going to + v1 – present indefinite tense
- was/were going to + vl – past indefinite tense
অজানা কথা: কিছু ক্ষেত্রে “be going to”-যুক্ত বাক্যগুলোকে future indicating present tense বলা হয়। যেহেতু এই বাক্যগুলোর অর্থ ভবিষ্যতকে ইঙ্গিত করে।
Present continuous Tense Bangla নিয়ে গোলক ধাঁধাঁ – 03:
- She is jolly enough. (সে যথেষ্টই হাসিখুশি।)
- I am a banker. (আমি একজন ব্যাংক কর্মকর্তা।)
- They are courageous, (তারা সাহসী।)
কি মনে হয় তোমার? উপরের বাক্যগুলো কি present continuous? মোটেই না।
কেননা, “am/is/are” যদি কোনো বাক্যে একটি verb হয় বা main verb হিসেবে বসে। তবে, “am/is/are” থাকা সত্ত্বেও তা present continuous tense না হয়ে present indefinite tense হয়।
অজানা কথা:
প্রথম বক্সের ” am, is, are” গুলো main verb এবং দ্বিতীয় বক্সের “being” main verb আর “am, is, are” গুলো হয়ে গেল auxiliary verb।
